"Probably 25 years ago, a close friend who had grown up in Gulfport heard an interesting tale, I believe from his father, that Gulfport had an enclave of retired prostitutes living in it. The idea of a “retired prostitute” was something that had never crossed my mind, nor do I recall ever seeing such a character portrayed onstage. I set it in Gulfport because one of the lead characters is a retired prostitute, or rather, a prostitute who is trying to retire, as well as being the single mother of a teenage daughter. I am a St. Pete native and know Gulfport well and am a big believer in 'write what you know'. . .
. . .The Sister-Mothers of Gulfport is about an unusual family unit trying to break that cycle of abuse with the current generation. It is focused particularly on the struggles of women in American Society, who must negotiate sexism, patriarchy and the complications of pregnancy in addition to overcoming all the other challenges every human must face." - William Leavengood

Love to Brian & Lou.
Starting with European tours of GODSPELL, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and NUTS in 1982, and right up to this production, Ward hasn’t stopped working. While starting out as a stand-up comic and studying theater at Arizona State in 1985, a chance audition for Gene Saks in NYC led to his relocation. There, he studied acting at the HB Studios with greats Uta Hagen and William Hickey. Scoring ZERO work as an actor, it was stand-up that paid the rent and put food in his gut. The massive national touring in the 80's and 90’s saw him share the stage with the likes of David Spade, Adam Sandler, Pat Paulson, Ron White and Dennis Miller to name a few.
As member of SAGAFTRA, his Guest Star television appearances include: THE RIGHT STUFF, MAC GYVER, NASHVILLE, LET'S STAY TOGETHER, BURN NOTICE, ARMY WIVES and ZOO all currently streaming.
This proud member of Actors Equity Association is a familiar face with Tampa Bay area audiences and has been acclaimed for his stellar performances in RED (The Heather), AMERICAN SON (Stageworks), ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (freeFall), TEMPEST (jobsite), KISS ME KATE (St. Pete Opera), and most recently, the debut production of The Off-Central Players’ RASHEEDA SPEAKING. This is Ward’s second Leavengood World Premier (the first being MONEYMAKER in 2015) and couldn’t be more excited to be involved with this brilliant play and outstanding creative team.
